“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

- Bhagavad Gita

Yoga originated in ancient India and is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices and disciplines to sooth the mind, body and soul.

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj' which means to unite. Yoga can be practiced anywhere and at all times and can be used effectively to reduce and calm anxiety. With 11 types of yoga such as yin yoga, hatha yoga and restorative yoga, it can also be used as a form of exercise burning many calories.

Yoga is one of the most beneficial practices a human can invest in and can require very little time.  Just a few minutes of yoga a day will provide a much-needed energy boost to calm the chaos of our busy lives and keep us refreshed and ready to face any upcoming challenges.

Maintaining a regular yoga practice can provide physical and mental health benefits such as increased flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, as well as, improved respiration, energy and vitality.

As for the mental benefits, regular yoga practice created mental clarity and calmness while increasing the body’s awareness and relieving chronic stress patterns.

Now more than ever, we should rely on the tools and exercises to help reduce stress and realign our bodies, so we have collaborated with Yogi Sara Abdelmoneim, a 500-hour vinyasa and yin yoga instructor, as well as a teacher of 200-hour teaching trainings in Bali. We have previously collaborates with Sara at our yoga retreat offered at Mazeej White, to check that out, click here.
