Kick-off Your Journaling Experience

In such times of social distancing and quarantining, it is important to take care of our mental health as it can be strained at such conflicting times. With the feeling that everything is out of our control these days, it is important to take time to ourselves to breathe and journaling allows us to reflect on our feelings and thoughts for a clearer thought train.

Personally, I journal to grieve for the normalcy that I feel is slipping away in my life and it gives me a grounded feeling knowing that I can express my thoughts and I am not alone in such times. Others are keeping notes to stay sane but, in all cases, it clears our mind even for a little while.

Moreover, you never know who could be reading your journals in many years so journaling is a great way to let our future generations get a feel of what we are currently going through dealing with a pandemic at hand.

“Step into a scene and let it drip from your fingertips.”

- MJ Bush

Our team has compiled a list of prompts to help initiate your journaling process. These prompts will help begin your writing journey. Find a calm, undisturbed setting in your house and get writing!

The prompts:

  • Write about something (or someone) extremely important to you.

  • Write about three things you’re grateful for today — and why.

  • Write about three struggles you are having and current solutions for all 3 of them

  • Write about one thing you did this year that you’re proud of.

  • Write about what advice you’d give to your younger self.

  • What changes, big or small, are you noticing in the world around you?

As a family, we deeply encourage the sharing of such thoughts and feelings with your loved ones!

We’d love to hear more from you so please share with us some of your feelings and some prompts you thought of!

We hope you find journaling as enjoyable and effective as we do!
